PC problem - honking PC

Hey all,
something is wrong with my PC. It started about a year ago, out of nothing it started making this weird honking noise (something like a police siren). After a while it stopped and now it started again.
It starts randomly, sometimes right when I turn it on sometimes after few hours of surfing, playing. I tried some temperature measurement if its not overheating, but shouldnt be.
ALso it works fine when making this noise, its just so annoying!

The sound doesnt come from external speakers, it comes somewhere from the motherboard its self...

Any suggestions what it might be?

This could be few problems:Your pc case sides are not 100% closed or your RAM is clashing with each other,or your RAM could be dirty you could clean it with a copy paper just fold the paper over the copper part and slide it gently(if done wrong could damage the RAM.But first check your case.and also your CPU fan seems not to be working and alarm could indecate that its not...so just check these.GL

my fan is working, but I have no idea how to work out the RAM stuff, dont want to damage it Smile

This looks like a RAM or CPU problem.

Try to remove them one by one, clean them from dust, then put them back (don't forget to apply some thermal paste before you put the CPU back into the socket).

P.S. - Try first to remove, clean and install back only the RAM, and if the problem perssist, it means that the problem is from the CPU.

Dont do it untill your will try other advices: Find what the source of the sound and turn it off by crowwbar, if its just some bug with alert. Kinda barbarian method, but it will stop sound...

Had this once too, cant remember what it was, either RAM or power supply...

See whats ur bios name and check at google what its signals mean Wink

I removed the cpu last year and it didnt help, I have done the same with RAM (I do have 2x1GB and 2x2GB, so if one of them is not working I doubt I can notice it since I mostly play SWAT and FIFA 12, which are not really hardware demanding :D ). I guess I will bring it to pro repar center, I hope they will sort it out because its so gay.

Spin! Never try to rush and randomly disassemble stuff inside ur pc man xD

Those signals in motherboard is BIOS trying to tell that something in pc is working not correctly... Just try as i said, type in google ur bios and "signal code", then u know whats problem and maybe can fix it by urself without spend money on pros Smile

yes, when it make sound, u need to count the number of BIP, and if its long or shorts BIP (it will make u a code, like using in morse alphabet). And then when u got ur signal (. _ ... _ ?) We will can help u, or u can find the signification of that signal on google like charly said.

I think your problem is CPU overheating or Fan is unplugged but we need more info tell your computer configuration and what is the temperature most ppl say that this high/low beep like siren is problem with cooling fan or CPU is damaged. Check BIOS settings for proper fan speed.

and one more i see ur CD or DVD rom blink why ? do u have cd or dvd inside ?

So the problem was in BIOS, there was a control for fan that was set too high and since I have a big passive cooler, sometimes the fan didnt rotate as fast as was the BIOS minimum thus the PC started honking. Now its all solved. tHX FOR your responses! Smile
